Andy Powell Racing Latest News

Latest News:

Following some really competitive showings in the National FF1600 and after 2 successful years together including 1 championship and many race wins Murray has decided to concentrate on Masters Historic Touring cars for the 2023 Season. The FF1600 project will be sold at the end of the 2022 season. Its been a wonderful adventure and we wish Murray every sucsess in 2023 and maybe even WHT campaign together in November might be on the cards.

For now however andypowellracing is concentrating its efforts once again on a 2023 HSCC FF2000 championship campaign with a brand new car the Delta T81 for Tony Hancock.

This is very exciting for us all and following some promising testing in July, September and December we look forward to a wonderful season or Historic Racing in 2023

Outstanding Performance my Murray at Silverstone Season Opener

The whole team at andypowellracing are hugely proud of Murrays  performance at Silverstone achieving a great 7th place overall against all the pro teams and drivers. This is a strong start for the team. In a race of attrition Murry was fast but importantly stayed out of trouble to take the flag. This was the teams first race on the National FF1600 championship and the car was 100% reliable. After trimming out some oversteer from Friday, oversteer from Saturday come race two we had achieved a balance that allowed Murray to perform well against established cars and drivers.

We will miss the next round of the championship at Knockhill, but have decided to do some development testing instead at Brands Hatch. The team cant wait to get at it again.

Murray Shepherd to contest 2022 National Formula Ford Chamnpionship

Great news Murray will this year be racing Pro Class of the National FF1600 championship against some of the worlds best young single seater drivers.

The series attracts the US Scholarship drivers to name but a few and is hotly contested at the UK best motor racing circuits. This is amazing news for andypowellracing and we cant wait.

The car pictured above is an amlost new Median BM20 the sister to car to the 2021 Formula Ford Festival winning car so has great pedigree. Testing starts at Brands Hatch on the 16th February with an installation test comined with BM Motorsport so a great opportunity to learn from the top works Team.

Good luck Murray!!

Murray 2021 Classic FF2000 Champion!

Murray shepherd has won the FF2000 class of the Classic F3 Championship in dominant style having won all but one round with fastest laps and pole positions at all the races. All the more impressive was the two podium positions overall ahead of most of the faster F3 cars at Brands Hatch in July.

This was an oustanding performance in his first season of Single Seater racing in the andypowellracing prepared Van Diemen RF82. In addition to winnng in the Classic F3 Murray also took victories in the super competitive Historic FF2000 championship.

As a team we are now looking to 2022 and in the coming weeks I hope to be able to share some exiting news for Murray and the Team. but for now....

Congatulations Murray.... 2021 Classic FF2000 Champion!!

Murray Battles for Outright Victory at Brands SuperPrix

Murrat Shepherd in the andypowellracing prepared Van Diemen RF82 had an outstanding weekend at Brands Hatch racing and beating not only the FF2000 cars in the class but fighting for outright victory in the faster F3 catagory too. Two amazing drives delivered two podium finishes overall and of course to class wins, pole positions & fastest laps. This put Murray in a comanding position within the championship and with Two races  left can not be beaten. Congratulations Murray on another stunning drive.

Murray Shines in Historic FF2000 Championship Debut

The sun shone this weekend at the beautiful but highly technical Cadwell park circuit in Lincolnshire for Murrays first visit there in a single seater. With a full grid off FF2000 requiring a qualifying race, this was Murray’s biggest single seater test to date and he delivered big style.

After a solid 9th I qualifying for the first of two championship races he eventually finished 5th in race 1. Race 2 however saw a tremendous performance and a titanic battle for the last podium position. After briefly taking 3rd he sustained front wing damage and the subsequent loss of downforce was sufficient to lose the place but finish in a very well deserved 4th overall and fastest lap. Well done Murray on such a great performance

Battle with the Historic cars will be re-joined at the Brands Hatch Superprix on the 9th & 10th July. Watch this space for more news.

Donington Test 16.03.2021

Pre-Season Testing of the andypowellracing RF82 with Murray Sheperd  was almost perfect last Tueday. A combination of heavey rain and largely dry conditions enabled both wet and dry set ups to be worked on and competative times to be set.

Eventually due to a broken float assembly we didnt manage to prove the ultimate pace but it did shake out a few issues that come race day would have lead to a retirement.

First race of the season is over the easter weekend at Donington. Watch this space for updates.
